I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a concentration in Child Development from the University of Alabama. After graduating from Bama, I took a year to travel parts of Europe and the United States, ultimately landing in Mt. Pleasant. I find there is a tremendous amount of self-discovery and personal growth that occurs through travel. I attended graduate school at The Citadel Graduate College, receiving my Master of Education with a concentration in Counseling. I attained my National Certified Counselor (NCC) and the South Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) designations.
In my teen and early adult years I was the confidant my friends and family leaned on for advice, encouragement and support. It was a very natural role for me and after taking a professional break to focus on raising my identical twins, I have decided that it is time to come back into the counseling profession. My mom is a therapist so when I chose to follow in her footsteps it was a rather organic and natural progression.
I began my career with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health as a school based therapist working with children, adolescents, and their families. Eventually I moved into pharmaceutical sales for 14 years before taking time away to stay at home with the twins. Having the opportunity to stay at home has not only provided time with my growing family but also provided me with additional time for self-discovery.
In the last handful of years, I have seen addiction, anxiety, depression and any number of other mental health issues skyrocket, which has led to my desire to re-enter the professional world of counseling. It would be my honor to walk along side you and your journey.
